Mennace World Tour:
This month the Mennace team travelled to Pakistan to take a tour of one of the Mennace factories, meet the people behind the clothes and experience local culture.
You browse Mennace, search for what you want, add to bag and get it delivered the next day. It’s really that simple. But this is only the front line of fashion. What customers don’t see are the people behind the clothes we wear: the behind the scenes. Who makes the clothes? Where are they from? These are all important questions. The styles you’re wearing have a background and we’re setting the standard on how our quality, premium gear is made.
As part of our global content series to bring you even closer to Mennace, CEO Nitin Passi, Buying Director Shailen Unalkat – and Designer Penelope Armstrong recently headed over to Faisalabad, Pakistan to meet the workers behind the action and to see, in depth, where our products are made.
Our Mennace sweaters, t-shirts and tricot tracksuits you see onsite are made in Pakistan. As a brand, we focus on solidifying a close working relationship with our factory in Pakistan, making sure we’re always working together to develop new fabrics, washes and print techniques, bringing our design boards to life, so that we’re always ahead of the game.
The Mennace team wanted to directly see the physical practices, conditions and ethos, not only of the factory, but for the real-life workers who are representing men in Pakistan today.
Their factory was founded in 1965 as one of the biggest furniture manufactures in Faisalabad. In 2005, it was converted to a clothing manufacturer after inspiration from the Manchester wholesale market and now has 618 employees. Ensuring we’re always on hand to support, their ethos is to redefine the fashion industry and set a new standard for manufacturing garment trade across the board whilst working closely with local charities. Community spirit is at the core of the factory, through safeguarding and independently helping single mothers around the vicinity and encouraging women to work in a safe working environment that’s fit for purpose. Our combined efforts are progressing the way garment workers are treated and viewed, to build a supply chain that works for everyone.
The result? Premium clothing straight to you.
On the last day of the trip, the Factory Manager, MD, threw an epic party for the team. The employees, who were all showcasing Mennace, made their favourite homemade dishes and brought them along to celebrate. Nitin and the team experienced authentic, homecooked food, music and entertainment like no other.
